Thanks to global warming, the Ukrainian agricultural industry may receive new opportunities that open up prospects for increasing yields. Vera Balabukh, candidate of geographical sciences and head of the department of applied meteorology and climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, noted in an interview for "Glavkom" that climate change may contribute to the cultivation of a third crop of grains. This becomes possible due to the extension of the warm period in Ukraine, which makes it possible to plant crops three times a year.In addition, with increasing temperatures, the climate allows for experimentation with the cultivation of subtropical crops that were previously unusual for Ukraine. These can be crops such as citrus fruits, olives or grapes, which opens up new horizons for the development of agribusiness in the country. Thus, despite all the risks and challenges, global warming can become a catalyst for positive changes in Ukrainian agriculture, allowing to expand the range of crops grown.
