Ukrainian regions added almost 600 MW of new generation in half a year

In the first half of 2025, 591 MW of new energy generation were created in the regions of Ukraine. This was reported by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Viktor Mykyta. According to him, the increase was due to the launch of new wind and solar power plants, installations in private households and the development of cogeneration: 84 MW – from wind power plants, 101.4 MW – from industrial solar power plants, 84 MW – from solar power plants in the private sector,320.2 MW – due to cogeneration, 1.2 MW – was added by a small thermal power plant. “Communities and regions are confidently pursuing energy decentralization.

This is one of the priorities for the heads of regional military administrations,” Mykyta emphasized.According to him, all regions are working in accordance with energy independence passports - strategic documents that contain regional plans for the development of distributed generation, in particular based on gas. Such a system, he emphasizes, is more resistant to enemy attacks and allows you to keep the light on in homes even during shelling.Recall that in the fall of 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers simplified the permitting procedures for installing distributed generation and introduced a number of financial incentives for business and the population. In December of the same year, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Reconstruction approved the energy independence passports of the regions. Regional administrations are to develop action plans based on them, taking into account the specifics of each region. In addition, Kharkiv recently received a grant of $ 33.3 million from the World Bank for the development of local energy infrastructure. As reported by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, thanks to this, the city will be able to additionally install cogeneration units with a capacity of 8.5 MW in critical areas.
