Ukrainian steel companies increased exports of semi-finished steel products by 56.7% in 2024 compared to 2023, rising from 1.2 million tons to 1.89 million tons. Meanwhile, in 2022, exports amounted to 1.9 million tons, and in 2021, they were 6.78 million tons. These figures are based on calculations by GMK Center, using data from the State Customs Service.
Export shipments grew year-on-year due to the revival of maritime exports to distant markets, particularly Egypt. At the same time, Bulgaria remains the main consumer of Ukrainian semi-finished products, accounting for 31.5% of total exports. Throughout the year, 595.02 thousand tons of products (+30% y/y) were sent to Bulgaria, 356.17 thousand tons (+1233%) to Egypt, and 215.76 thousand tons to Turkey.
