According to sources, Meta has launched a limited trial of the new chip and plans to expand its use if the test is successful. The development of its own chips is part of the company’s long-term plan to reduce infrastructure costs as Meta actively invests in AI development. The company’s total expenses for 2025 are estimated at $114–119 billion, of which up to $65 billion is planned for artificial intelligence.The new chip is a specialized accelerator for working with AI, which makes it more energy-efficient compared to graphics processing units (GPUs) that are usually used for such tasks. The production is carried out by the Taiwanese company TSMC.
