Metallurgy, transport and construction. Who else increased production in 2024

Most key industries increased production in 2024, according to data released today by the State Statistics Service. However, not all. Forbes Ukraine's analytical department made a quick overview.
Industrial production increased by 3.6%.

The largest growth was in the mining and metallurgical complex. In particular, the extraction of metal ores increased by 23%, metallurgical production - by 22.5%.
Industries focused on the end consumer were also in the growth zone.

The food industry increased production by 6.2%, light industry - by 9.7%.
The growth of real wages was one of the drivers of household demand. As a result, retail trade turnover increased by 11.6%. Thus, trade turnover has already exceeded the volumes of 2021 in real terms by 2.6%.
Growth was also recorded in all types of construction. In particular, the construction of non-residential buildings increased by 26.2%, engineering structures by 12.5%, and residential buildings by 7.6%. One of the drivers of growth was the construction of defense structures. Increased construction demand led to an increase in the production of building materials by 4.2%.
After a sharp two-fold reduction in 2022, the transport industry is gradually reversing its decline. Thus, in 2024, cargo turnover increased by 13% (still 36% less than the 2021 figure), and passenger turnover increased by 10.1% (31% less than the 2021 level). The dynamics of cargo and passenger traffic are ahead of the dynamics of transported cargo and passengers, which is evidence of an increase in transportation distances.
