OKKO raises €157 million from Western banks to build wind power plant in Volyn

Galnaftogaz Concern, which owns the OKKO gas station network, has signed an agreement to raise €157 million for the construction of a wind power plant (wind power plant) in Volyn. This was reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is also participating in the financing of this project. This is one of the first private projects “from scratch” in the energy sector of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The funds will be received by the companies Wind Power GS I Volyn and Wind Power GS I Volyn 3, which will be responsible for the implementation of the project. The loans will be used to support OKKO in the construction and operation of wind power plants in Ukraine with a total capacity of 147 MW. The company's own investment will amount to €68 million. The plants are expected to generate at least 380 GWh of renewable electricity with zero carbon emissions per year. This will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 245 thousand tons per year. Who will finance the construction of the wind farm The following institutions will provide financing for the implementation of this renewable energy project: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - €60 million; the International Finance Corporation - €60 million; the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank - €37 million. The project is also supported by guarantees from the EU and a grant from the United Kingdom in the amount of £3.8 million (€4.5 million). Its total cost is estimated at €225 million.
