Since the beginning of the year, they have processed 20.7 million tons of cargo:
• Pivdennyi Port — 10.6 million tons,
• Black Sea Port — 6.6 million tons,
• Odessa Port — 3.5 million tons. The ports of the Danube region — Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaysk — together handled over 2.3 million tons of cargo.
For comparison, in the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainian ports processed 27.8 million tons of cargo — 4.8 million tons more than this year. The decrease in cargo turnover is primarily due to the reduction in land areas used by the agro-industrial complex, as well as a decrease in production in other industries whose products were traditionally exported. In particular, production in the metallurgical industry — one of the flagships of the Ukrainian economy before the start of the full-scale war — has significantly decreased. Previously, 75–80% of metal products were exported, but now the volume of its production has significantly decreased. At the global level, there is also a decline in cargo transshipment due to instability in the markets and disruptions in supply chains. At the same time, Ukrainian ports operate in even more difficult conditions, but continue to maintain their front — logistics. Port infrastructure remains key to ensuring the export of agricultural products, critical imports, and economic stability. And thanks to the indomitability of port workers, the sector demonstrates high resilience even in wartime.
