Ukraine and IEA have identified areas of cooperation for 2025–2026

The Government of Ukraine and the International Energy Agency have concluded a Joint Work Programme for 2025–2026. The document was signed by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko and the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol during a meeting in London.“Cooperation with the International Energy Agency is of great importance for Ukraine. We highly appreciate the expert support and recommendations of IEA specialists who help restore and reform the Ukrainian energy sector in accordance with the principles of energy transition and green transformation.

 

The new work programme of cooperation will allow us to deepen this cooperation,” said Herman Galushchenko.The joint work program envisages the provision of IEA support to Ukraine in achieving the goals of strengthening energy security, post-war recovery and reconstruction, while investing in the transition to "green" energy and a sustainable energy future.In particular, cooperation is envisaged in the areas of providing support for the implementation of strategic documents of the energy sector of Ukraine - the implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 and the Energy and Climate Plan until 2030, as well as updating national plans and commitments within the framework of the Paris Agreement.The parties will also cooperate in the areas of energy efficiency and development of alternative energy; infrastructure restoration and reconstruction; energy sector reform; development of markets for biomethane, hydrogen, offshore energy and small-scale generation; support for the implementation of renewable energy sources.It is envisaged to provide the IEA with expert and analytical support, organize training, exchange of experience and facilitate Ukraine's participation in the activities of the agency's working bodies.Recall that Ukraine joined the International Energy Agency in July 2022, becoming the 11th associate member country.
