Ukraine and Sweden signed a memorandum on expanding cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaly Koval, and the Minister of Rural Affairs of Sweden, Peter Kullgren, signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of agriculture, fisheries, food industry and irrigation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.“Recently, a historic step was taken in Stockholm — the “Buy Ukrainian Products” initiative was officially presented. And today, in Brussels, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with Peter Kullgren,” Koval noted.

The memorandum is designed for three years with an automatic extension for another three years. The document opens up new opportunities for deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden in the agri-food sector.Among the key areas of cooperation:Restoration and reconstruction of agricultural infrastructure and value chains in Ukraine through the implementation of joint projects;Promoting commercial, scientific and technological contacts between institutions of both countries in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, food industry and irrigation; Harmonizing Ukrainian legislation in the field of agriculture and fisheries with EU requirements; Developing business cooperation and industry associations in grain production, horticulture, poultry farming, meat and dairy sector, fish processing and niche crops;Supporting the food industry and promoting sustainable food systems;Transferring experience and innovations in the field of ecological and sustainable agriculture.The signing of the memorandum was another step towards the integration of the Ukrainian agricultural sector into the European market and the restoration of the agricultural industry after the large-scale challenges of recent years.
