The Unified Power System of Ukraine and Moldova has received permission to export up to 900 MW of electricity to the countries of the European Union. This is the maximum figure since synchronization with the European power system ENTSO-E in 2022, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported.Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko emphasized that expanding export potential is not only a source of foreign exchange earnings for energy companies, but also an important tool for stabilizing the power system. At the same time, he emphasized that exports are possible only if there is a surplus of electricity, so as not to create risks for domestic consumers.Increasing electricity exports is of strategic importance:For balancing the power system. Deliveries abroad allow for the effective disposal of surplus electricity during hours of low domestic demand. To attract finance. Selling electricity at EU market prices allows accumulating funds for repairing damaged facilities, modernizing networks, and preparing for winter. For European integration. Deepening the presence in the EU internal market is a step towards energy integration and strengthening the energy security of the region. The new export limit will be valid until at least August 1, 2025. In the future, the volumes will be reviewed monthly depending on the situation in the Ukrainian energy system.
