The European Union has increased import quotas for agricultural imports from Ukraine as part of a revised free trade agreement. RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Reuters. In particular, the EU has increased the import quota for Ukrainian wheat from 1 million tons to 1.3 million tons. Ukraine can export this volume duty-free. As part of the agreement, the EU has also increased the import quota for Ukrainian sugar from 20 thousand tons to 100 thousand tons and the import quota for barley from 350 thousand tons to 450 thousand tons. The import quota for poultry meat has also been increased from 90 thousand tons to 120 thousand tons. The EU temporarily abolished duties and quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products in June 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion and the resulting threat to its traditional Black Sea shipping routes. The EU and Ukraine reached an initial trade agreement at the end of June. The revised agreement covers 40 products and still needs to be approved by a qualified majority of member states.
