Ukraine improved its position in the world ranking of iron producers

During January-June 2024, iron production in Ukraine amounted to 3.47 million tons. This is 22.25% more than the same period in 2023. For comparison: during January-June 2023, 2.84 million tons of iron were produced.Turkey (5.19 million tons) is above Ukraine in the world ranking of iron producing countries, and Saudi Arabia (3.43 million tons) is below.
In total, in the first half of 2024, metallurgical enterprises of the world produced 704.01 million tons of iron. So, in the world's iron production volumes, Ukraine accounts for 0.49%. For comparison: in the first half of 2023 it was almost 0.4%.As before, the first place in the ranking belongs to China. In the first half of 2024, the country's metallurgists smelted 435.62 million tons of pig iron, which is 3.6% less than in the same period in 2023 (451.89 million tons). The share of Chinese pig iron in global production in the first half of 2024 was 61.9%.Recall that in 2023, Ukraine ranked 16th in the world ranking in terms of pig iron production.It was also reported that in the first half of 2023, Ukraine ranked 17th in the world ranking of pig iron producers.
