World coffee prices increased by 20% compared to last year and in August reached their highest since August 2024. The price increase is caused by drought in Brazil, a decrease in yields in Colombia and the introduction of new import tariffs in the USA. Thus, according to the International Coffee Organization, in September the average cost of arabica was $ 2.45 per pound (a little more than 0.45 kg - ed.), and in a number of Latin American countries the price increased even more due to disruptions in logistics and rising costs for fertilizers.
