The European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, and the Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Ukraine, Aida Lindmeier, signed an agreement to launch a project aimed at modernizing the Ukrainian labor market and strengthening social dialogue.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, the EU contribution is €3.5 million and will be aimed at supporting the government and social partners of Ukraine in strengthening their capacity to reform the employment system.The project involves developing the State Employment Service to increase its efficiency and compliance with international standards, as well as reforming the management of an inclusive labor market. Among the tasks are supporting the country's reconstruction and preparing for Ukraine's accession to the EU.
The ILO noted that the initiative will play a key role in strengthening the capacity of the State Employment Service, developing a new National Employment Strategy, promoting the Youth Guarantee Initiative and updating labor legislation in line with EU standards.The project will run from October 15, 2025 to October 14, 2028. Its total budget is €3.8 million. The contract was signed on October 15 through the OPSYS system.
