The Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System and the Ukrainian gas transmission system operator have agreed to gradually increase the capacity for gas imports from Poland to Ukraine from the beginning of February 2026. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. By the end of April, the capacity of this route will increase from 15.3 million cubic meters to 18.4 million cubic meters per day.
“Increasing import capacity is part of the systematic work to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security and diversify gas supply routes. The Polish route provides access to various sources of gas and remains one of the key ones for imports,” Shmyhal noted.
In 2025, 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered through Poland – more than 30% of the total volume of imports, including about 600 million cubic meters of American LNG.
