Ukraine tests IKEE pilot project on recycling construction waste for roads

A pilot project by the Japanese corporation IKEE Group Ltd, which involves the use of recycled demolition and demolition waste for the production of materials in the field of road construction and repair, was presented during a working meeting at the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. It involves the collection of demolition waste (concrete, brick, asphalt), its sorting and processing with subsequent use as secondary raw materials for road repair and construction.
The parties also discussed issues of state policy in the field of waste management, the main results of the project implementation, barriers to investment and possible mechanisms for further support of Japanese business in Ukraine.
The IKEE company will facilitate the transfer of technologies for the production of all-weather materials for road surface repair using secondary aggregates from demolition waste, as well as the commercialization of relevant products and technologies. This will improve the condition of damaged road sections, strengthen logistical capacity and accelerate the restoration of critical infrastructure.
Under the JICA scheme, the company is testing the material on Ukrainian roads, as well as pilot production of the product. The material can be used in various weather conditions, does not require complex preparation or special equipment, ensures quick commissioning of the site and is characterized by high resistance to loads.
