Ukraine has a State Fund for Decarbonization and Energy Efficient Transformation, which receives taxes on CO₂ emissions. The funds that were collected last year but not used are used to finance projects in the current year. For 2024, as of December 12, the fund has accumulated UAH 1.9 billion, intended to support energy efficiency initiatives. About 80% of the projects submitted for consideration concern the installation of solar panels. The fund directs funds to two main areas: providing preferential lending within the framework of decarbonization programs and reimbursement of interest on energy efficiency projects financed through commercial banks. Applications can be submitted by business representatives whose projects include measures to reduce energy consumption, use renewable energy sources or reduce CO₂ emissions.
