JSC Ukrzaliznytsia plans to join the transportation of cargo along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM), in particular by launching a ferry connection with the port of Poti (Georgia). This was announced by company representatives during a meeting of the Export Office at UZ, reports Rail.insider. One of the steps in implementing the project will be the registration of a new legal entity UZ Cargo East in Kazakhstan. The ferries "Hero Plevna" and "Hero Shipka", which were previously planned to be transferred to the State Property Fund of Ukraine as non-core assets, will also be involved. In addition, it is planned to create a separate maritime transportation operator. UZ intends to become an operator not only of railways, but also of maritime transportation in order to form a comprehensive logistics corridor between China and Europe. The project launch date has not yet been announced, but it is noted that the ferries will transport both containers and wagons.
