EIB allocates €50 million to modernize railway crossing points in Ukraine

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has allocated €50 million to the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (“Ukrzaliznytsia”) to modernize important railway crossing points on the border with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.This financing is part of a larger project under which the EIB has allocated a total of €150 million to improve Ukraine’s railway infrastructure, agreed back in 2016. The first tranche of €100 million was provided in 2022 as part of the EIB’s emergency response to support Ukraine, which included emergency repairs and the restoration of essential railway services.
