Scientists have discovered a new benefit of coffee for the body

A morning cup of coffee is not only a pleasant ritual to wake up to, but also a powerful ally for your gut health, writes agronews.ua. Experts say that regular coffee consumption has a positive effect on the gut microbiome, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria and improving the overall condition of the body. Coffee contains polyphenols, which act as prebiotics - substances that feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut. These compounds promote the growth of bacteria such as Lawsonibacter asaccharolyticus, Alistipes and Faecalibacterium, which are associated with improved metabolism, reduced inflammation and support of the immune system. One study showed that people who regularly drink coffee have a higher diversity of gut bacteria, including an increase in the number of Alistipes and Faecalibacterium, and a decrease in the harmful Erysipelatoclostridium.Another study found that coffee drinkers have a higher gut flora of the bacterium Lawsonibacter asaccharolyticus, which is linked to improved heart, brain, and other health. Experts recommend drinking 2-3 cups of black coffee a day to support gut health. However, it’s important to remember that excessive caffeine consumption can have negative effects, so it’s best to drink in moderation.
