In Odessa region, almonds are becoming a promising crop in the face of climate change

For farmers, climate change in Ukraine, particularly in the south of Odessa region, is becoming a reason to look for an alternative to the usual crops and varieties. One of such crops is almonds. Almonds are resistant not only to drought, which is typical for the south of Ukraine, but also to a large amount of precipitation, as well as hail.In terms of profitability, compared to their closest competitors in Ukraine - cherries and apricots, which lose 50-70% of their yield in adverse conditions, almonds are distinguished by their stability. Almonds also do not require mandatory irrigation and treatment with chemicals for stable yields. But in addition to the advantages of cultivation, almond cultivation is accompanied by risks, in particular in the form of unscrupulous sellers of seedlings.
