Ukraine is modernizing 125 dairy farms and preparing for a new trade format with the EU

Dairy production in Ukraine is not stopping, but is shifting from the east to the central and western regions. 125 dairy farms are currently being built or modernized.This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval.He believes that the sustainability of the dairy business is an example for the entire economy, and the effective distribution of margins between the producer, processor and retailer is not only a matter of economics, but also of trust."Only synergy between all participants can provide the effect of scale that will allow creating added value both in the country and for export," Koval noted.According to him, pricing is the key to fairness in the chain and he called on manufacturers to move from raw materials to finished products."A ton of Ukrainian agricultural exports costs an average of 291 euros. For comparison, in the EU it is 1,536 euros. This is the difference between the raw material economy and the economy of added value. Our task is to ensure that the share of livestock and processing reaches more than 50% in the agricultural sector," the Minister of Agricultural Policy said.
