In the autumn of 2025, the Ukrainian cheese market may face a new challenge. Cheese producers announce an increase in prices for their products by about 5%While in the EU countries cheese fell in price by an average of 8% in August, domestic producers, on the contrary, are preparing to raise prices. This is already reflected in the sales structure :Cheese imports have intensified, which is partially displacing the Ukrainian product from the shelves;
Consumption of cheese products is growing rapidly - a cheaper analogue, which is becoming the only really affordable alternative for many households.Analysts note that producers of classic cheese have to fight for buyers not only with imports, but also with domestic competitors who rely on cheaper production technologies. Due to the lower cost, the cheese product is currently showing the most dynamic sales growth.Given the incomes of Ukrainians and the general inflationary background, it is expected that the trend of consumers reorienting themselves from “real” cheese to more affordable substitutes will continue. This may significantly change the market structure in the coming seasons.Finteco previously reported that Ukraine continues to actively import cheeses from abroad, and according to the results of the first half of 2025, the volume of imports of hard and semi-hard cheeses increased by 15% compared to the same period last year.
