OECD raises global GDP growth forecast for 2025 to 3.2%

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has raised its global GDP growth forecast for 2025. According to a September report, the global economy could grow by 3.2%, compared to only 2.9% expected in June.Forbes-Ukraine reports. The forecast for 2026 remains unchanged at 2.9%. In 2024, global GDP grew by 3.3%.Analysts note that the first half of the year turned out to be more stable than expected, in particular due to strong results in the United States and emerging markets. Among the supporting factors are investments in artificial intelligence and stockpiling ahead of tariff increases.

The situation with global trade remains tense. Since May, US bilateral tariff rates have increased for almost all trading partners, and by the end of August their effective rate reached 19.5%, the highest level since 1933. The full impact of these changes is not yet felt, but pressure is already being seen on consumer spending, the labor market and prices.Regarding regional forecasts, the US economy may grow by 1.8% in 2025 and by 1.5% in 2026, after 2.8% in 2024. In the eurozone, growth is expected to be 1.2% this year, but only 1% next year. At the same time, the forecast for China has been improved to 4.9% for 2025, and for India to 6.7%. Japan will also show stable growth at 1.1% in 2025.
