The reduction in raw material production is also influenced by the low level of precipitation in July-August, which causes a lower yield of sugar beet. In addition, due to the increase in the price of energy and logistics, the cost of finished products will increase. Despite this, domestic consumption, which has stabilized at 900 thousand tons since 2022, will be fully met. Export potential is also preserved: in the 2025/26 marketing year, Ukraine can supply up to 600 thousand tons of sugar to foreign markets. According to Ukrsugar, in the 2024/25 season, exports will amount to about 580 thousand tons, which is 32% of total production. The geography of exports is expanding: in addition to traditional markets, Ukrainian sugar is now supplied to the countries of the Middle East, Africa, as well as to more exotic destinations, such as Sri Lanka. In the new season, the world market expects a sugar surplus of up to 5 million tons. At the same time, its reserves remain at a 9-year low. According to World Market Prices, even in years of high harvests, sugar prices are formed at a consistently high level. This opens up opportunities for Ukrainian producers, who have a favorable geographical location and a flexible start to the season.
