In August 2025, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 2.81 million tons of grain cargo, which is 2.3 times more than in July and 6% more than in August 2024, ProAgro Group reports. The increase is 130% compared to the previous month. Such a jump indicates the intensification of logistics against the background of active trade in grain of the new harvest and stabilization of export routes. In total, 18.8 million tons of grain were transported by rail in January-August, which is 30% less than in the same period last year.
The reason is the difficult situation with access to ports, restrictions at border crossings and the general instability of logistics chains. In August, export transportation amounted to 2.55 million tons, which is 1.7 times more than in July, although 3% less than last year. 94% of grain was sent to ports, and only 6% through western border crossings, confirming the reorientation to maritime logistics. According to the data, grain loading on the rail network increased by 10% compared to August 2024, which may indicate a gradual recovery in transportation rates.
