Ukrainian company signs $25 million reinsurance agreement with US DFC

Knyazha VIG became one of the first insurance companies in Ukraine to sign a war risk reinsurance agreement with the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
This was reported by the press service of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), Liga.net reports.
The agreement was prepared with the participation of one of the world's largest brokers - Aon, which previously collaborated with DFC on the first-of-its-kind mechanism to support war risk insurance for Ukrainian businesses.
Knyazha VIG and Aon announced a new $25 million reinsurance mechanism, which came into effect on February 1, 2026.
Through this mechanism, DFC will provide reinsurance coverage for a portfolio of war risk insurance policies worth up to $100 million. This will allow Knyazhiya to offer Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises and private clients comprehensive and innovative war risk insurance solutions.
Over the past two years, Aon has already announced a first-of-its-kind $50 million reinsurance mechanism with DFC supporting war risk insurance policies for Ukrainian companies.
Ukrainian insurance company ARX has entered into and is implementing an agreement with DFC for war risk reinsurance and is offering such coverage starting in November 2024.
