Ukrfinzhytlo to expand e-Housing opportunities together with the World Bank

Ukrainians will have more opportunities to purchase housing with a mortgage. The mechanisms for expanding the program were discussed on November 4 at a meeting of the Committee of the Association of Ukrainian Banks. Representatives of 25 leading banks in the country took part.

The update of the “e-Housing” program was discussed, in particular, in terms of increasing the social focus of the program. The main goal is to expand citizens’ access to housing while maintaining the stability of mortgage instruments for banks. They also discussed how to make mortgage terms clear and uniform for all banks — in particular, creating a single loan agreement and agreeing on fair rates. They also talked about how to protect the interests of both banks and borrowers: how to charge fines, insure housing, and motivate people to fulfill loan terms.Cooperation with the World Bank was separately considered. It is about creating a new compensation model that will help make mortgages more accessible to Ukrainians. If the pilot phase is successful, Ukraine will be able to attract additional World Bank financing for the development of the e-Housing program. The participants will present their proposals based on the results of the discussions at meetings with the World Bank.
